Content Areas/ Subjects

At the beginning of october, the chıldren from our kındergarten had an experience related to the autumn season: the grape harvest.
The children came into direct contact wıth nature, walked through the vıneyard, pıcked the juicy bunches of grapes, observed the path of the grapes once they had been harvested. Thanks to our expert, they took a rıde on the tractor and enjoyed grape juıce. Once back in the section, the children reviewed the experience.

Activity Description (Procedure)

The five-year-old children went to a wine estate in the Foglıanıse area in October to experience the grape harvest. After visiting the vineyard they became little pickers their industrious little hands plucked the bunches of grapes. The expert showed them the various stages that transform grapes into wine: harvesting-crushing-fermentation-vinching-fermentation-preservation and bottling. The outdoor experience was a wonderful opportunity to observe the children in a different context from the school, they were radiant, willing and curious.
The five senses became protagonists, the children were guided to discover the experience through them:
- touch: picking and touchıng the grapes
- smell: the smell of crushed grapes
- sight: the colour of the grapes
- taste: the taste of grape juice
- hearing: identifying and naming the sounds of nature around them.
