1. The day before, Brainstorming activity with the students, to survey previous knowledge about the places to visit and their chronological context.
2. On the day of the visit, provide students with notebooks and recording material, where they can write down questions to be asked or lessons learned.
3. Travel to Guimarães by bus.
4. Guided visit to the Palace of the Dukes of Guimarães.
5. Guided visit to the chapel of S. Miguel, where D. Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, was baptized.
6. Guided visit to the castle of Guimarães, where D. Afonso Henriques lived.
7. Travel by bus, back to Braga.
8. Evaluation of the activity with the students.
9. Illustration of the field trip.
